A video game prototype is a raw test that tests functionality, user experience, gameplay, mechanics, and artwork. Prototyping occurs in the pre-production phase to see if a game idea will work and if it is worth pursuing. Many ideas don't make it through this stage. I've seen videos on youtube that show how they developed a Minecraft game using this type of prototyping. I like this game, especially going online to minecraft smp. Many of my acquaintances don't like this game; I have been playing for about 10 years.
