The only movie I had seen when I read Different Seasons was Stand By Me, but the novella The Body still stood out as an excellent piece of writing. Apt Pupil I thought was extraordinary, and Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption as well. The only one I didn't like in that one was Breathing Method, and I disliked it quite a bit.

The only one I've read is Everything's Eventual, so I'll wait a few years until I've read them all to say for sure.

I really loved the title story. Most of the stories were very enjoyable. I think King is better in short story form, because he doesn't have much time to ramble. Though I did absolutley hate L.T.'s Theory of Pets.

I think that is definitely teh case these days, that his strongest work is in short stories, for the very reason you stated. I thought EE was surprisingly strong considering I was being disappointed by most of his recent novels.
