Washed up stars are coming out of the woodwork it seems, to try and cash in on their glory days. And Gellar appears to be next in line, wanting to bring her iconic character Buffy back to the silver screen. This wouldn't be a sequel the laughable 1992 version with Pee Wee Herman and Luke Perry (I'm sorry, I know your disappointed) but rather a continuation of Gellar's popular TV series.
I wanna say I don't understand, but of course I do, it's clearly all about the money for an actress who's fallen out of the spotlight. I guess what I should say is why in hell does she think anyone would care at this point? I can see her pushing for a movie after the show ended, and go out with a big bang. But now? It just feels like desperation to me. One could argue that X-FILES and SEX AND THE CITY have done the same thing, but then again, the last X-FILES flick tanked and I'm thinking SEX AND THE CITY has a much larger fan base thanBuffy dvd box set. I love anything Vampire, but like I said, this reeks of desperation and that's not cool. Not to mention, this film idea has INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE complications written all over it (meaning cast members from the show have gotten a bit more popular, or at least may think so in their minds, and may want big cash for their participation). Ego's are a funny thing in Hollywood, but I'm sure David Boreanaz would jump at the opportunity and now that James Marsters (Brainiac) is done with SMALLVILLE he'd be available as well. Of all the team (Gellar aside), those two would definitely NEED to be in the movie for it to work. |
