Violin came during a period where I thought she was putting out very substandard novels, then Violin came along and I fell in love with her again. I thought it was an incredibly evocative ghost story that was well written with vivid imagery. I thought it was the best of her later works.

It was also semi-autobiographical. The main character LOOKED like Anne and all the stuff with the dead daughter was just like Anne's daughter, right down to a picture of the girl described which I had seen in Anne's biographical of her late daughter.
