IT will not fire. I am getting output from the charging iggy coil. I hooked up my multimeter to the red and white wires coming from the magneto. I set the meter to VOLTS and and spun the pedals simulating starting. got 6.9, 6.7 and 7.0. So it shows output, but how much output should there be?
I cleaned the guts as well as could be. I sanded and polished the coil armatures or whatever they are that the magnet passes over. I cleaned and sanded the flywheel as well. I checked the ignition coil and it shows continuity. But when I check the plug or iggy coil for out put there is none. I grabbed the wire and pedaled like crazy and nothing. I replaced the iggy coil with a used one once when it had stopped before. it worked perfectly after wards. the used iggy coil is still in place. it seems to test alright. I got a new motor ordered but if I don't need it i don't wanna buy it. I went completely through the olde motor. repacked bearings and cleaned everything I could. It went back together and I installed it no problems except for no spark. I even set a mirror in front of the headlight to test the lighting coil and pedaled like crazy, nothing from the headlamp. . This is the fourth time I have put this motor back in. This is the second motor. and I am on my last nerve. my fangers have been greasy for three weeks. Hellllp! |

I got a five year old TFR with eleven hundred miles on it. I bought it from a guy for fifty bucks it was dusty and wrecked and looked awful. and I took it home and fixed it . It cranked up and ran very well till the IGGY coil went out once, I replaced it with a used one and it ran like a champ. Goode compression and lots of power Cranked up on the first kick everytime. and now the clankity clank syndrome. After rebuild, engine seems quiet and has goode compression. I reringed it and cleaned and sanded and double cleaned everything I could finde. will the CDI and IGGY coil COMBO work for my TFR? right now it's two separate units. thanks again DON P |

i would check the tail light bulbs, and make sure the kill switch is working correctly, and install a brand new spark plug.
