Hi everybody, my first post - of many I'm sure.

I wanted to add an author to this mix, and that is James Herbert.
Right now, I'm reading 'The Secret of Crickley Hall', a traditional ghost story in British style (something that I think we Brits are great at).

This would be a great book to introduce you to James Herbert, but there are the obvious two books to mention - The Rats & Lair (the sequel). The former being his first book.

Check him out, you won't be sorry

Hey JoeJenkins, welcome to the board, we're all glad to have you.

I have read only one Herbert novel, The Fog, and I really enjoyed it. It had a great atmosphere to it, and I could clearly see all the action going on inside my head. After reading it, I bought some other books by him from the used bookstore but haven't read them yet. I do not have The Rats, but i am interesting in finding a copy of that one.

I would love to read Rats. I've only read a few Herbert novels but have enjoyed every one I've read. I have a few more on my bookshelf that I need to get to.

Hi JoeJenkins! I'm glad theres a James Herbert thread, I love his work. I haven't read The Secret of Crickley Hall yet, if it's like The Magic Cottage I'm sure it'll be good.

I finished Dark by Herbert not too long ago and really liked it. So far as I can remember I have read Nobody True, The Others, The Fog, and Dark from Herbert and liked them all. I have a couple more on my shelf, so I'm excited about getting into them. Great writer.
