STINGER - ROBERT MCCAMMON
SYNOPSIS: "Suddenly he was tumbling forward, falling through darkness. His mouth opened in a cry of terror as he realized that the room had no floor, that he was crashing through the roof of Hell.... And the he heard something that made the hairs stir at the nape of his neck.... It was a furtive, scuttling sound; a moist sound. Something was moving in the darkness below...." Two aliens arrive in a remote Texas town, one an engaging waif, pursued by the other, a relentless bounty-hunter sent to bring her back. The townsfolk rally around the fugitive, but STINGER, the bounty-hunter, covers the town with a force field. No one can escape as he begins his search using replicants of the town's inhabitants---exact copies of humans but with silver claws for hands and razor-blade teeth...STINGERS! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY THOUGHTS: McCammon really satisfies with this all out no hold's barred sci-fi thriller. This book is begging to become an epic movie. Great characters, awesome aliens, and a touching comaraderie that will bring a broken town back together again. A must read for horror / sci-fi /and thriller fans a like. Perfectly paced and expertly woven, this tale with leave you breathless. This one easily earns a 5 out of 5. |

Deejay, thought you're drawing in another thread was very cool of Stinger.
I thought Stinger was a great book. I liked the town and the characters. The setting backdrop with the heat and desert, it's been awhile since I've read it but it sticks in my mind. |

Thanks Bella ! I really enjoyed the fact in was set in the middle of a dessert - not too many books I've read have been set in the Dessert - plus it was nice to read in the middle of an ice cold winter that's been constantly miserable here. It's blizzarding here yet again !!

Life can be as bitter as dragon tears. But whether dragon tears are bitter or sweet depends entirely on how each man perceives the taste.
