Somebody had great discussion about how that Koontz/King issue came about. I think it was Chris Meeks a forum member. I'll see if I can find it.
I'm inclined to believe in parallel worlds filled with dark bound Snow and Odd adventures.

FirTree, I found that Chris Meeks discussion on the Koontz/King comparisons. It's viewable from a public section of MySpace in a book discussion section but I'm not the smartest person with posting computer links and the link was a mile long! The discussion became very intense too!

The main points had to do with the timing of Koontz becoming famous. I think King's "break through" novel was Carrie and then it became a famous movie. The publishing industry was hot for horror. Koontz had been writing for a long time with many pseudonyms but his breakthrough novel came later with Whispers around 1980. By that time, King was pretty big. Publisher had been pressuring Koontz to put out books in the horror genre and this wasn't what Koontz was strictly about or his preference. It states how he was pressured into Phantoms. Anyway, Koontz didn't want to be limited and defined by that genre but it happened. The debate even brought up the fact that on the bookshelves, Koontz is right there after King. Not a major thing but I can see Meek's point. The discussion was very well detailed and much better than my paraphrasing. I found it very interesting.
