I guess that's why I liked Blackwood Farm (other than the previous mentioned) because I felt that Tarquin and his family had more of the tone I was used to.

My plan is to read the first three Chronicles, and stop there. I've heard too many bad things about the rest, and I have too many other books I want to read.

If I may breezit, read the fourth one too. I think it is highly underrated. The writing may be starting on a slight decline, but the story itself is one of the most exciting and thrilling of the series, I think. After that one, by all means, skip 'em.

I do agree that some of her characters where forgotten through the chronicles but i am still glad i read them all, blood and gold was one of my favourites, after interview, queen of the damned and the tale of the body thief.
