Hello everybody! Once again, I have started another discussion board. In one of my last posts I mentioned that I should start a website in jest, but I now have inspired myself to actually do it. What should I include in it? The Rhede, an outline of Wicca, a few definitions to clear any confusions... let us make this a team project, lol. Except Greek cheese isn't invited. So guys, fell free to simply make long lists of what I should include. |

I use to have a kick-ass wiccan site called Wiccan Pride (duh! haha). But it was deleted by Geocities for some unknown reason a year ago. (SO I STRONGLY DO NOT recommend using Geocities) My site had many pages. I'm sure some of my visitors could ensure you that it was a beautiful and informative site. After a year...I'm still not too pleased with geocities. I spent A LOT of time on that site...countless of hours - typing up articles and information compiled from my book of shadows...and next thing i know, the site is deleted. Boy, was i p**sed and upset - and still am. When you make a site...be prepared to answer questions. Know your stuff, your visitors will have questions. I always got many e-mails with questions from my visitors, and i tried to answer every one of them. Some, of course, I could not answer as I did not know. But I did what I could. Do not plagarise information. Never steal another site's material. Its just unfair, being an ex-webmaster (yes, ex, now deleted!) I hated seeing my stuff plagarised over the internet. And because there arent too many big wiccan sites out there, its not hard to catch those who 'copy/steal' and its not impressive at all. At first, your site will be very quiet...don't expect too many visitors at first. Mine wasn't too busy at first, but as information builds up, your site gets linked to the bigger search engines (mine was linked to google, msn, -- often the first search result you get when you typed in about wicca) you get more hits. OK so this is probalby more information than you wanted or asked for that's me, i like to ramble and just put everything out there! Onto your actual question for that laundry list of stuff to put on your site...actually I'd recommend just looking around at other wiccan sites for ideas But of course the usuals - wiccan redes, whats wicca, differnce between witches and wiccans, whats witchcraft, magick, rituals, spells, about esbats and sabbats (each one), deities, etc. There is SO much stuff to put on....its countless. Good luck with your webiste making belive me, its so rewarding and its quite fun I loved it. And I only wished it was never deleted, and me for being stupid for NEVER backing up any of my work (hint for you to backup whatever you do) |

The site I'm working on (yes, I've started) will be backed up, as I'm working on it offline. funny you should mention geocities, that's where i was going to put my site! haha. I'll look around for other webhostings. I wonder if I could put a forum on the site eventually? I worked out how to put up a message board--is that the same thing? Hmm-ey... Thanks for your help, wiccanpride, you're the best. |

If you're working offline, are you using a webpage desiging program? or just typing up some info to start with? Of course you could put a forum on the site! That would be very cool. I use to have one of those non-registration post boards where anyone could post anything. That turned out to be quite a success. Messageboard, forum, -- theyre all similar! |

Me again! I'm using Microsoft Front Page to design the site, it's so user-friendly that it's crazy! Could you send me links to get free forums? That would be great. I probably won't put one on straight away, but maybe later when it's near completion. I need all the help I can get to kick this thing off. Did you lose ALL the stuff on your site? |
